STARTING FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 2023, BUILDING OR REMODELING WILL BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE.

The 2018 tax reform established a gradual imposition of the tax, but due to the effects of the pandemic, an exemption was granted until 2021 to mitigate the damages in the sector.

From September onwards, building or remodeling your house or any other structure will be more expensive due to the application of the full 13% VAT rate on construction services.

Specifically, this measure will impact the following services, as long as they are provided to projects registered and/or approved by the Federated College of Engineers and Architects of Costa Rica (CFIA):

Construction services affected by the 13% VAT rate

Ingeniería
Arquitectura
Topografía
Construcción de obra civil
